Abstract

The Brazilian championship was of paramount importance for the integrative project that reverberated in the country, with the dictatorship. The creation of the Brasileirão in 71 there was great animosity from several states with the aim that a club from their state could participate in the championship.

Among this race to enter a certain national championship, the state of Goiás had great interest in participating, however, the largest stadium until then was the Olympic stadium, which then had up to 10 thousand capacity, it was not a small stadium, but, it was not a stadium that the CBD (Brazilian sports confederation) understood as the right place for sporting events to take place, the stadium lacked greater capacity.

In the conception of the CBD, there was a need for clubs to have larger stadiums, for this, some Brazilian states spoke with the government, in which they helped to build several Brazilian stadiums, among them, Serra Dourada. This stadium was used as a political instrument by both the state of Goiás and the Brazilian government.

In the beginning, the stadium's purpose is to be a place for sports, however, Serra Dourada goes deeper than that, it manages to dialogue with the structures of the population, in which it will become a place of culture and heritage of the state . Thus becoming a symbol of the state of Goiás.
