Urban Social Movements for the listing of cultural heritage in Goiânia and São Paulo at the end of the 20th century

This article aims to understand the social movements for the listing of cultural heritage in Brazil. In order to understand the claims, the method of comparative history was chosen. The main sources are Viana's concept of social movements (2016) and the analysis of social struggles in favor of listed pieces of heritage, in São Paulo by Nigro (2001) and in Goiânia by Oliveira (2015). The comparison between Goiânia and São Paulo demonstrates a correlation between these ramifications of urban social movements and the debates around cultural heritage that took place in the 1970s.
